I had an intense physical reaction during a recent somatic experience session. My jaw tightened so much that I was afraid it would freeze shut. Gina helped me to ground myself, like a skilled air traffic controller landing a plane in high winds.
“Relax into the place where you feel grounded,” she told me, “And thank yourself for all the good work you’ve done during this session. Appreciate what you’ve accomplished.”
Gradually my jaw felt less rigid.
“Good work,” Gina said. And she urged me to think about what the word “appreciate” means. Appreciation appreciates. It builds upon itself, as does gratitude.
